"Once In A Blue Moon"

Only once in every 20 years, the Blue Moon appears on New Year’s Eve, as it will this year. On a physical level what is happening is that the moon is out of phase with the days. For it to make its complete cycle, it’s about 29.5 days. It doesn’t coincide with our month, and that’s why it is out of sync with our Julian calendar. It’s the occurrence of two full moons in one month, which happens every two years, hence the popular quotation “Once in a Blue Moon” which means ‘not very often.’ On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.

On December 31st, 2009, we have a Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse.

On a spiritual level, it is as if it asks us to ‘flash forward’ into the next two years to see what we can see. This is the most important New Year's Eve we have ever been gifted in a long time. No matter how much you do not believe prophecy from time and earth, it will still affect your energy field and your choices.

This December 31st, 2009 Partial Lunar Eclipse is numerically a 7/11 (#9) vibration : Cosmic and personal completion! Entering the next level of love, of heart, of soul and service to the planetary evolution through healing Self. Free-falling from the height of the nine into the next level of Light. Entry and exits all in the same breath. A quantum leap into unknown gifts comes through the nine. Are You ready to see and be more than you are at this minute of time? Nine is the photo finish on the heavenly line of multiple choices. If you believe you have won, you have. Your New Year's resolutions on 12/31/2009 will be more powerful than a super nova. Their vibration will surpass space and time and land at the feet of the whole & infinite YOUniverse.

    Halo nicole,

Lucky You! We didn't even get to see the moon on NYE due to all the storm clouds, lightning and thunder - but it was breathtaking all the same!

Ha ha - Am I born with this knowledge or have I actually studied it all? As I Be/Live this is a 'As Within, So Without' YOUniverse...it's a bit like the chicken or egg conundrum. Do we KNOW first and then find the reflection 'out there' of what we know inside...OR do we get to know what we truly look like only by looking into a mirror first? I LOVE a good pair'o'ducks!

But to be honest...probably a bit of both. I mean, Numerology was actually my first metaphysical love. And just as well, as it really helps with getting to know the Tarot (as well as Astrology, QBLH, etc.). You were experiencing 7/11 synchronicities thoughout 2009? Seems to me You were 'locking into' that vibration of endings/completions (which culminated on NYE). 2010 is a #3 Year : Creativity, Expansion, Expression & Communication. Time for a new creative growth-spurt!

    Blessed Be,
Another (electrifying) Point of You : OM...

    Thanks, OMNI, for that topic!
I've just found on the net this wonderful photo: Blue Moon and a partial lunar eclipse, as the second Full Moon of December grazed the Earth's shadow on December 31st 2009 :

But WHY is the moon called “blue” during the second “full moon” in a month ?
    Is it really blue? :)
I had been looking up an explanation of meaning of the name: “blue moon” and finally
I found only these words of Greg Laughlin, an astronomer at the University of California:
“ 'Blue moon' is just a name in the same sense as a 'hunter's moon' or a 'harvest moon.' “.

It was cloudy and snowing on New Year’s Eve in Poland and even if I had known about “Blue Moon”( that day) earlier, I wouldn’t have been able to see the moon. :(
